LO3 report: Be able to illustrate how the legal, ethical, social and moral issues are considered within the product proposal

 1. Legal and Regulatory issues

My product is a gaming console that can be substituted for a computer and this console will allow people to enter their emails and Payment information This will work similarly to PlayStation and Xbox with how you add your information but the information will be stored on the console store which will be a custom store where game developers will release their video game. Because people upload their information on to my console I will need to make sure that we will have to insure that our data protection act to protects peoples information from getting stolen we will also have to make sure to take down games from our store that are offensive there are many examples of offensive games that have been uploaded to the steam store and to insure that this doesn't happen to our store we use regulatory bodies such as PEGI to identify these games so we can decide to take them off our store. For added protection we will implement a passcode feature that happens before every purchase and without the passcode no games can be bought from our store we will also have an age rating as you have to be 13 to start buying games but cannot buy any over your age to stop young people from plying video games that are 18+, we will be able to implement this by adding support for YOTI so that people can prove their age. Because alongside my product we are creating an app we need to make sure that we comply with government guidelines to make sure that no legal issue can occur.

With my inbuilt store and profile app I need to implement security features to keep the user safe such as the data protection app as the apps will hold information like billing information and names and to make sure that users details don't get stolen, there are specific requirements given out by the government for data protection 

Everyone responsible for using personal data has to follow strict rules called ‘data protection principles’. They must make sure the information is: 

used fairly, lawfully and transparently

used for specified, explicit purposes

used in a way that is adequate, relevant and limited to only what is necessary

accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date

kept for no longer than is necessary

handled in a way that ensures appropriate security, including protection against unlawful or unauthorised processing, access, loss, destruction or damage

There is stronger legal protection for more sensitive information, such as:

race

ethnic background

political opinions

religious beliefs

trade union membership

genetics

biometrics (where used for identification)

health

sex life or orientation

Since my product is a games/computer device it has to be reviewed by The office for product safety and standards to make sure that the product is safe to use and will not cause not any safety hazards for my users and if they do happen to find a hazardous device we will have to properly dispose of it.

Because people will be able to create video games with our app we need to make sure that another person does not take credit as it is stolen intellectual property with if not dealt with correctly can make use has to face a lawsuit and the way to avoid this is by making sure that the creators game is official their intellectual property. 

2. Ethical, social, and moral impacts

With our custom app we can create custom profiles and profiles can be visited by other and people will be able to communicate with other people we will need to make sure that no racist or homophobic things can be posted on their profiles as this is unethical and morally wrong to allow this to happen. To combat this we will add filters so that when our system detects certain word its bans them and then a report will be sent to the person account to try and stop the bullying if the person does not stop and consistently bullies people a ban that can reach 30 days will be placed on their account according to the severity to their action.  We will clearly highlight the use of malicious comments and trolling/bullying in our user guideline and anyone that breaks those guidelines will be banned from any type of communication.
