LO4 Proposal for technological product

 PRODUCT IDEA 

The idea I have is a device that has feature of a portable games console but that can also be used as a work station all by simply connecting a display and keyboard and mouse to the device. On my device people will be able to do all sorts they will be able to play video games at high speeds they will also be able to do work such as video editing and photo editing. Alongside the product a app will be released and this is how everything works as this is where you would make a profile to socialise to other people with the product and this is also how you would download the video games as the app will also be a games store.

 

CONVERGING SECTORS – NEEDS TO BE TWO OR MORE (E.G. COMPUTING AND TELECOMS, SOCIAL MEDIA AND TV, TV/FILM AND INTERNET) 

In my product the converging sectors are games, internet, social media and computing. This is because my product incorporates sectors of social media and gaming services such as steam this because the propriety app that comes with the product includes these features. It also includes sectors of the internet as 

 

WHAT THE PRODUCT DOES/SERVICE PROVIDES 

 

The product will allow users to link their epic and steam accounts to allow users to access their video games from app and so they will no longer have to download multiple apps to play their games. Because our app links to Epic it will have unreal engine 4 built in the app this will allow people to create games within the app.

TARGET AUDIENCE AND DEMOGRAPHICS 

The target audience of my product will be 12-35 aged people who enjoy playing non competitive video games and enjoy playing laid back video games. It is also aimed at people with children this is because people can use this is a work computer and then turn it into games console which is beneficial to some people.

 

DOES THE PRODUCT FILL A GAP IN THE MARKET? IF SO ,HOW DO YOU KNOW? WHY WOULD THIS BE A VIABLE IDEA? 

I believe that this does fill a gap in the market as there hasn't been a portable gaming console that can also be used as a high end work station. I believe my product is revolutionary as it has an inbuilt app that links all other apps making a hub for everything allowing you to access all your content from one place it also makes creating your own games more easier as everything is already setup.

 

IS IT THE TYPE OF PRODUCT THAT IS MADE BY A CONGLOMERATE COMPANY OR AN INDIE COMPANY? 

 

It will be a product developed by an indie company with a small development team. Because of this, we have to achieve a budget through crowdfunding sites such as GoFundMe.com. Plus, if we manage to form joint ventures or use synergy with other conglomerate companies, then we will be able to obtain an even bigger budget through publishers and investors, hopefully gaining a bigger development team as-well. The app is ambitious so we will need to use crowdsourcing tools to find the best people who have the correct skills for the job. Even with this, we could also achieve funding from celebrity endorsement, similar to how Jay-Z owns Tidal and uses his wealth to fund the app.

 

 

DISTRIBUTION OPPORTUNITES/HOW AUDIENCES ACCESS IT 

 

The audience will be able to access the app on a mobile device, tablet, PC or Laptop. This is because I want users to be able to access the app however they can. Whether on the go using a phone, or at home on a PC. It will be available for download on IOS and Android, and also on all PC systems such as Windows and IOS. The more accessible our app is, more users will want to use the app and will do it on multiple devices.

 

HOW WOULD YOU MARKET THIS 

I will market this product using above the line method such as bus wrapping, poster and television advertisements. This will ensure my product reaches the mainstream audience I can also use below the line methods to reach a more niche audience to hopefully inform as many people as possible as the product will still be useful for people in the niche audience as it is a workstation that can be used easily, Furthermore, We can use Web 3.0 techniques such as semantic web technology and artificial intelligence which would allow us to market our product to specific people online to people who enjoy technology. and  finally, synergy would be used ad I can join other companies like steam in a joint venture to advertise and promote the product the way they could help is by putting our product on their main page.
